The city of Alexandria was constructed based on the free space occupied by the village Rakotis, that's because Rakotis itself continued as a national neighborhood for both Egyptians and Greeks residents before the arrival of Alexander to Egypt. The original layout of Alexandria included important buildings (The Agora - The Gymnasium -The  port - House of Wisdom....), and after a period of time, the number of buildings have increased as (The Royal tomb  - Museum - Library - Royal Palaces - The temple of the Holy Trinity - The lighthouse ......) were added.And with the increasing numbers of the population and the number of arrivals to Egypt, and especially the city of Alexandria, the city began to expand toward the east (El Shatby -  Camp Caesar - Mostafa Kamel - Ibrahimiyya - Hadra to Abu Qir (canope)..
