(Documents reveal 112 years of lost history)
In old palaces, the basement often hides a lot of secrets. In the basement of the great palace “The Museum of Fine Arts in Alexandria”, we accidentally found an old box among some old belongings that were about to be disposed of, and by opening the box we found some old files bearing the name “Farouk I Museum of Fine Arts”. Behind this name, as we expected, was a lot of buried secrets that we will unveil in this exhibition.
Our curiosity invited us to search further and further to discover that what was inside the box were just some clues that led us to a great history - in every sense of the word - dating back to more than a hundred and twelve years of secrets that were hiding between the walls of the great museum.
Great personalities over the years have been behind the establishment of the museum and enriched it with unparalleled artifacts and collections, and it is time for them to come to light.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an introductory seminar delivered by Dr. Islam Assem, President of the Heritage and Traditional Arts Association in Alexandria.
Mr. Ali Said, Director of the Museum of Fine Arts.
A great and indescribable effort from everyone who contributed to this work, all thanks to everyone and especially thanks to Dr. Islam Assem:
